In ‘The Shawshank Redemption', directed by simply Frank Darabont, Darabont uses the characters of Andy and Reddish colored to develop the message with the importance of hope. Through Andy we master that whenever we have desire we can maintain dignity and strength of mind through even the most challenging of circumstances. The character of Red reveals us that if we shed our wish, we turn into imprisoned by fear, yet his relationship with Andy is also created to show that hope could be gifted in front of large audiences. This concept is truly relevant in our contemporary society today, no matter what circumstances we face inside our daily lives. Darabont uses techniques of camera function, lighting, color, symbolism, voice-overs and dialogue to help all of us greater fully grasp this idea.

Firstly Darabont uses the character of Andy to show that if we include hope, we are able to maintain pride as well as supplying this to others. As individuals, we all come with an innate directly to be valued and remedied with value. In the prison the inmates do not get this, several are content to just accept this, and doing this they lose all their humanity and individuality. While we are introduced to Shawshank, a leaping aerial taken dwarves the prisoners and shows how insignificant they are really. The lamps is uninteresting and dull, with all inmates wearing similar grey clothing, showing us that the criminals have lost all individuality. About Andy's first night the newest inmates are stripped of their clothes and marched with their cells, in which they are teased and taunged and heckled by the different inmates since 'fresh fish'. Darabont has been doing this to demonstrate how the new inmates have been stripped with their dignity, but also that all the other prisoners are behaving like animals and possess lost their particular humanity. Nevertheless , Andy immediately stands out from the other prisoners. His tee shirt, although off white like the various other inmates, is usually buttoned fully up, and he stands tall.
