Abstract

Bureaucratic effectiveness is predominately culture specific

(Sharma, 2001). What this means is each region and community

need to develop their own approach to developing managerial

effectiveness. Realizing the important of culture in

management practice, this paper attempts to learn

managerial effectiveness from the perspectives of the

Bhagavad-Gita. The Bhagavad-Gita is a historical Indian

spiritual and philosophical text and is also more than 5000 years old. Chinmayananda (2003) asserted that every now and then

an ancient beliefs needs clever re-interpretation to apply effectively inside the context of recent times. Based upon

text and content examination of chosen verses through the

Bhagavad-Gita, a few relevance of the Bhagavad-Gita inside the

development of managerial effectiveness is explored with this

paper.

Persons, today is definitely exploring beliefs, transpersonal

mindset, meditation, Yoga exercise, Vedanta, Yoga,

Taoism, and many other spiritual disciplines.

There has also been an increasing involvement in

integrating spirituality and management as the

numbers of articles on spirituality in management

periodicals are increasing (Kale and Shrivastava, 2003).

One of the ancient Indian spiritual text is a

Bhagavad-Gita or perhaps the " Song of the Lord”, which

provides the essence from the Vedas, that has been

delivered simply by Sri Krishna to Arjuna more than 55

centuries in the past in Kurukshestra, India.
